Assisted Outpatient Treatment
Why AOT?
It stops the revolving door of untreated serious mental illness.
What is Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT)?
AOT is court-ordered, outpatient mental health treatment for individuals with serious mental illness who meet the criteria for admission under Illinois law (in-patient or out-patient.)
AOT clients will receive client driven services that include, but are not limited to, intensive case management, psychiatry and medication management and various evidence based therapeutic interventions.
How Will it Work?
- Contact AOT Clinician to discuss suitability for the program
- A referral will be made to the State's Attorney's office where appropriate
- The client voluntarily engages in AOT treatment (signs agreed order)
- The client is then connected to treatment within the community
