About the court

The Twenty-Second Judicial Circuit serves the residents of McHenry County, Illinois.  As one of 23 circuit courts in Illinois, the Twenty-Second Judicial Circuit is a trial court of general jurisdiction and handles criminal, family, and civil matters.  There are currently eight circuit judges and eleven associate judges that serve the residents of the judicial circuit.  The judges work alongside a dedicated and talented Circuit Court Clerk and Trial Court Administrator, as well as their staffs.

McHenry County is located in northeastern Illinois. It is the sixth most populous county in the state and is considered a “collar county” by virtue of its proximity to the Chicago urban area. The 102 counties in Illinois are configured into 23 circuits. There are five single-county urban circuits, McHenry being one of them.
